Karen McCormack grew up in Dutchess County, NY and resides there still. As a child she showed a great interest in art and animals. In 1987 Karen attended duCret School of the Arts in Plainfield, NJ, to study fine art. While in college she was a volunteer at the local humane society. There she found her goal in life, to help animals. "I wish to help the animals in any way I can for they give us so much of themselves unconditionally."In 1994 she became a veterinary assistant and is currently working at Hopewell Animal Hospital in NY. " I have always enjoyed caring for animals and using them as subjects in my art work. I try to capture their innocence and the love they have for their owners. The more I work with the animals the more I want to paint them."
